FAQs

Arrival & Departure
Participants should plan to arrive June 25 (June 24 departure from outside EU). Last event is 07 July; check-out is 08 July. Participants should compare costs of arriving in various regional airports; recommended are Milan Malpensa or Linate, in addition to Zurich, Switzerland. Regardless of which airport you choose, you will need to take a train to arrive in Maccagno (on Lago Maggiore, just south of Swiss border). Complete travel instructions will be sent in May to all attending participants.

Sight Seeing
Maccagno’s proximity to Milan, and the ski resort areas of the French/Swiss Alps offers plenty to suit both the outdoor enthusiast as well as those interested in urban shopping and cuisine. We encourage participants to either arrive early, or plan a few days for travel following the festival. Aside from a guided morning excursion to one of the lake area’s famed open-air Markets, the festival period of 12 days is packed full of music activities. Participants wishing to explore the region should plan to do so either before or after the festival!

Honing Your Craft
Practice facilities with pianos are available throughout the day and into early evening hours. Composers are encouraged to bring A laptop with music editing software. Each participant will receive two private lessons and/or master classes during the festival.

Guidelines
The majority of participants are currently enrolled in a music degree program, through the PhD level. Recent PhD and DMA graduates are also welcome. Typical age range is from 20 to 35, however participation is not limited to this age group.
