Each year, soundSCAPE invites an early to mid career level composer to serve as the festival’s composer in residence. This fellowship creates a model of collaboration between composers and performers, resulting in significant opportunities for participants and faculty alike. In addition to composing a work for the soundSCAPE faculty trio, the composer will assist in the Composition Colloquium, along with mentoring participants in master classes and private lessons. The composer will also lead participants in the creation of new music AT the festival, centered on a given theme, resulting in an outreach performance in the Maccagno community. The composer’s own music is featured in lectures and performances throughout the festival. Previous winners of the soundSCAPE composer in residence fellowship are Lansing McLoskey and Patricia Alessandrini.
